Keswick - Cumbria Lake District
Keswick, in the heart of the Lake District is a small Market town whose town centre is only a short walk from Lake Derwent Water. The Central street is distinctive with the Old town hall (Moot Hall) positioning centrally in the market place in the traffic flow and now housing the Tourist Information Centre. Once famous fro its pencil making manufacture due to the locally mined graphite used in its production, though this has since moved to nearby Workington. The Walk down to Derwentwater is pleasant , passing through Gardens to the waters edge with rowing boats for hire and lake cruises available. The famous Castlerigg prehistoric stone Circle id nearby comprising of 38 stones set in a location with impressive views of the surrounding peaks.
